It's funny, my elbow feels pretty good but I started going to the driving range (nothing else to do but golf out here in the desert) and it has really caused me problems with my wrist. I probably shouldn't smash the club into the turf every swing. :)

Today's paused bench
45x3
65x2
135x2
155x2
185x2
205x2
245x1 (I couldn't pause it twice)
245x2 (no pause)
245x1 (paused)
added reverse small red bands (paused)
265x1
275x1
285x1
I mis-loaded the bar today and thought I was working with 240, not 245. I didn't realize it until I was adding the bands. I guess I'll go to 250 for paused singles next week.

Glad that elbow is good - I can relate on the wrist - I changed jobs about 7 years ago and during the transition had lots of time to golf - and wound up with a wrist problem after playing 5 days a week + the range!

Your bench is looking strong - go for 255! All the best with your training!

This will be my last training session before bench nationals next week in Palm Springs. It's hard to believe I haven't competed in over a year. My strength feels okay, but the difference between 132 (old weight class) and 130 (new weight class) is more than I expected. Putting the treadmill in the garage probably wasn't the best idea considering I live in Desert Hot Springs (Palm Springs area). I feel for the military guys that have to train in 29 Palms. It's hot as hell out here. This will be my first meet in the master's division, so hopefully I can make a good showing.

All reps paused.
45x3
65x1
95x1
135x1
155x1
185x1
205x1
225x1
245x1
255x1
255x1
255x0 Fatigue set in at this point.

Looking to go 220-ish, 240-ish, and 250-ish at nationals.

TIME TO KICK A--

I had a good time at usapl bench nationals yesterday. It wasn't a great day for my lifting, but it was a good time nonetheless. I lifted in the 130 raw masters division.
Attempt #1 220 Good
Attempt #2 242 Good
Attempt #3 253 Miss
I was a little disappointed with missing 253. Last summer I was able to get 259 at 132, so I thought 253 would be doable at 130. Obviously not the case. Honestly, I think I just waited too long to get to 130. I was on the treadmill every night last week and my body was not happy. I have only had two meets where I left really satisfied. One was when I got 270 at 123 in a blast shirt and the other was getting 259 raw at 132 last summer. The one thing that these meets had in common was that my body weight was where it needed to be well in advance of the meet. I just need to be a little more disciplined going forward.
It was good to see everyone and I'll make sure not to go over a year between meets again.

242 is awesome for an USAPL meet at a bodywieght of 130 lb. I hope you keep striving and do more at the next competition! Finding the magic formula for meet prep is the Holy Grail of the sport for lifters with experience -- Congratulations on your lifting!
