First real day back in 10 weeks. Hard and weak. sucks starting over but......

Moving down to 198 this year. Hope to crack top 25 in open. Was 34th and T-18th raw and single ply @220 open last year, 1642/1802. Number 1 and 3 Master over 40 and 1 and 2 over 50, guess that is OK. Really want to crack raw top 25 open this year. Think I can do it with 1575 total which will be tough but doable.

Used mix grip but was very controlled with movement. No rolling bar and ripping it off the floor. Bit nervous but felt decent. Hope to back to 600 in 4-6 weeks. Surgeon would shit but just can't fart around anymore.

This is my version of conditioning and will continue for 4 weeks. Tested maxes last week 540/335/600. Programing for 540/355/650 in 10 weeks @ 214. which will be a 198 weight. Hope to be able to do Chicago Fit Expo 2 May if it doesn't fill up before I can commit. Weight loss not going as well as I had hoped.

Did not push chest circuit as hard as I should have. Skipping dead lifts this week. Snow kind of messed up schedule.

More then likely going to single ply this year for some fun and to give body a break from the raw training. In process of dropping to 198 for health reasons. Tested maxes in gear, except DL, this week to see where I was. Gear was real loose but made no difference. Would not have handled anymore weight regardless.

Squat: 550 TRX and EFS extra heavy duty sleeves
Bench: 350 Rage X
Dead: 650 raw

Happy with these numbers as a starting point. I am going to really try to learn gear and not get frustrated and make excuses. Going to try to train smarter. Hate using age as an excuse but @ 53 I am starting to feel beat up after every workout. Would like to go 1700+ @ 198 this year but that is going to be tough.

Not going into great detail about why I put up a stink pickle @ Nationals. Will say went with the Bernie Sanders training philosophy. I did not work hard and just assumed other lifters would share some of their total. Needless to say socialism does not work well in the power lifting world. Going back to the Reagan philosophy, work hard and earn your own.

This was a solid first week. Working on squat form. Trying not to panic and stay tight. Slowing down my decent. Will be squatting every 5 days.
